Spectroscopic data from NASA’s premier space telescope revealed the presence of water vapor and methane in the atmosphere of K2-18b, an exoplanet located 120 light-years away. More significantly, researchers detected high concentrations of dimethyl sulfide, a molecule only made by life on Earth—specifically marine phytoplankton. A search for a water ocean covering the surface is now the top priority.
